Her father and uncle rushed to find her sister and aunt, leaving her in a state of uncertainty.
Moments later, a family from Britain intervened, warning her of the rising waters. With no time to question, she instinctively followed them to safety. The days following the tsunami blurred into a haze of fear and uncertainty. The kindness of strangers played a crucial role in her survival, guiding her toward safety on a boat bound for Phuket.
During this harrowing journey, she grappled with the overwhelming desire to be reunited with her family. The aftermath of the tsunami revealed its true devastation: over 227,000 lives lost across 14 countries and billions of dollars in damages. Yet, in that moment of uncertainty, she found herself longing for the familiar embrace of her loved ones.
Understanding survivor's guilt
Survivor's guilt is a complex emotional response that often ensnares those who have lived through traumatic events.
